Collection: Black on Black

This series was inspired by the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program.  The limited palette lesson (Black on Black)   

Black canvas, black oil paint - Add black to any and all colors used. This provides a cohesive feel to the painting. Start with a white china marker to block in the form. Oil paint is applied in layers using radiant and vivid colors with a tiny bit of all the different black oil paints. This technique uses the cool and warm temperature properties that you can only get with oil paint. This pushes and pulls areas forward or backward. After they dried, I finished with a palette knife and a bit of cold wax mixed with paint to make areas pop. Very vibrant in person.
